How tattoo studios answer price and openings DMs inside Instagram's 2026 rules

Tattoo studios can answer Instagram DMs about prices and openings in a minute. ManyChat, CreatorFlow, Meta and BetterSocials compared on price and AI.

A tattoo studio answers Instagram DMs about prices and openings faster with a DM tool that replies from facts the studio writes down, booking link included. BetterSocials is best for studios that want AI answers in the owner's voice from their own rates, at $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts. ManyChat is best for studios that want to build keyword flows, and Meta Business Suite is best for one fixed answer at no cost.

What job does a tattoo studio's DM tool have to do?

Instagram sets the limits that BetterSocials, ManyChat and every other DM tool work inside, so we read this as a rules story first. Each section below names the limit, where it comes from and what it does to a studio's reply speed.

The tool itself has three jobs. It answers the two questions that fill a studio's inbox, "how much for this?" and "any openings?", from facts you wrote down. It puts your booking link in the same reply, and it leaves every custom quote to an artist.

The third job protects you. A tool can repeat a shop minimum, an hourly rate or a deposit rule you gave it. Custom work needs an artist's eye, so those DMs should land in front of a person.

Which DM tools fit a tattoo studio in 2026, and what do they cost?

BetterSocials, ManyChat, CreatorFlow, InstantDM and LinkDM all connect to Instagram through Meta's approved API, and Meta Business Suite is Meta's own tool. They differ on how they bill, which platforms they cover and who writes the reply. We put them in order of fit for one job: answering price and openings DMs from a studio's own facts.

ManyChat and BetterSocials prices below are as of October 2026, and CreatorFlow, InstantDM and LinkDM prices are as of September 2026.

Pick BetterSocials if you want each price or openings DM answered in your voice from rules you write. Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts and one login, with unlimited contacts. Comments and DMs from Instagram, Facebook and TikTok land in one inbox, next to YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn Company Page comments.

Pick ManyChat if you want to build keyword flows or need WhatsApp in the same tool. Pro is $39 a month, billed monthly, for 2,500 active contacts, and each extra contact costs $0.05. A studio that reaches 3,000 people in a month pays $39 plus 500 x $0.05, a little over sixty dollars, while BetterSocials Creator stays $29 a month for four accounts at any contact count.

Pick CreatorFlow if one or two Instagram accounts and template replies cover your DMs. CreatorFlow is cheaper: Pro is $15 a month, or $12 billed yearly, for two accounts and 5,000 DMs, on Instagram only with template replies and no AI replies.

At five accounts, CreatorFlow Growth is $30 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for 10,000 DMs and five seats. BetterSocials Creator is $29 a month for four accounts, and the money buys AI replies in your voice, Facebook and TikTok DMs, and comments in the same inbox.

Pick InstantDM if you want AI agents from a free start. Its free plan covers 500 credits a month on Instagram and Facebook, and its AI agents run on ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. BetterSocials writes from a voice profile built from your past replies, plus the AI rules you write.

Pick LinkDM if keyword and template replies on Instagram and Facebook are enough. Its free plan covers 1,000 DMs a month.

When is Meta Business Suite's free automation enough for a studio?

Meta Business Suite is enough when one fixed answer covers most of your DMs. Its keyword automations are free, are set up on desktop, and send templates you write or use Meta Business Agent. They wait 15 minutes before sending unless you reply first.

Meta's automation also covers comment-to-DM, where a keyword in a comment sends the commenter a DM with your link. In Meta's words, it will "send a message reply to comments on your posts that contain specific keywords or phrases" on Facebook and Instagram.

A studio can stop there if every price question gets the same reply, such as your minimum and your booking link. Once price and openings questions need different answers from your own facts, a tool that writes each reply from your rules earns its price.

How should an automated reply handle a price question when every tattoo is quoted?

BetterSocials quotes only the numbers you put in your AI rules, so the reply carries your fixed prices and routes the rest. Write down what doesn't change from piece to piece: your shop minimum, your hourly rate and your deposit rule. Every other price question gets your booking link and goes to an artist.

In BetterSocials, those numbers go into AI rules. An AI rule is a plain sentence you write, such as "never quote prices, send people to the booking link", and it applies to every draft and automatic reply.

When your rules don't cover what someone asked, the AI doesn't guess. The DM waits for you in Needs reply, the Inbox view for messages still waiting on an answer. Questions also wait there for your approval unless you turn on Answer questions too, which only switches on after you've written at least one AI rule.

Every AI reply passes a filter before it sends, covering banned phrases, links on platforms that punish them, and length caps. A booking link you write into your own AI rule is kept.

How does a studio answer "any openings?" without checking the calendar?

BetterSocials answers openings questions with your booking link, so the client checks open dates on your booking page. Put the link in an AI rule and every openings reply carries it. The booking tool you already use does the calendar work.

BetterSocials also tags every new comment and DM when it arrives. A Lead tag marks anything asking about price, booking or availability, and lead detection is free and on by default. Each new lead sends a push notification to your phone, so you see an openings question mid-session.

Leads you haven't answered get at most one reminder email a day.

Which Instagram limits cap how fast a studio can reply?

Instagram's limits apply to BetterSocials, ManyChat and every other tool on Meta's API in the same way. Four of them shape a studio's DM day.

  1. A business can reply to a DM through a tool only within 24 hours of the person's last message. Every new message from them restarts the clock, and past the window you can still answer in the Instagram app.
  2. A keyword comment gets one private reply. Meta's developer docs on private replies say "Only one message can be sent to the Instagram user who commented. The message must be sent within 7 days from when the comment was created."
  3. That private reply goes to the person's inbox if they follow you and to their Request folder if they don't, per the same Meta page.
  4. Story replies reach the DM inbox, but BetterSocials gives story replies and voice notes no AI reply, so a person answers those.

Plan around the 24-hour window, because a DM left until the next day can pass it.

How does BetterSocials answer price and openings DMs?

Since October 23, 2026, BetterSocials has answered Instagram, Facebook and TikTok DMs with AI in the owner's voice. TikTok only lets apps answer DMs for accounts outside the UK and Europe. The AI answers DMs that arrive after you turn it on, and a studio sets it up in four steps.

  1. Connect the studio's Instagram from Connected Accounts in the sidebar. You sign in on Instagram's own screen, and your password never touches BetterSocials.
  2. Write your AI rules: your minimum, your deposit rule and your booking link.
  3. Open Settings, then AI voice, and set DMs to Reply in my voice. A DM then gets an answer about a minute after it arrives.
  4. Turn on Answer questions too once your first rule is in, so price and openings questions get answered without waiting for you.

The AI reads the conversation so far, so it doesn't ask something the client already said. After five AI replies in one conversation in a day, the rest wait for you. Each AI reply uses 1 AI credit, and when credits run out the AI pauses and never charges more on its own.

If you'd rather approve every reply, Draft for me writes a draft the moment each DM arrives, and nothing sends until you approve it.

Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts, one login and 1,000 AI credits a month. Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six accounts. Team is $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, for twelve accounts and unlimited teammates.

Every plan has a 7-day free trial, card required, and unlimited contacts. To test it on your own DMs, start the trial from the BetterSocials pricing page. To see the steps first, read How to set up BetterSocials, step by step, in its help center.

FAQ

Can ManyChat answer tattoo price DMs on Instagram?

Yes. ManyChat answers keyword DMs and sends booking links through flows you build. Pro is $39 a month, billed monthly, for 2,500 active contacts, and each extra contact costs $0.05, so a studio that reaches 3,000 people in a month pays a little over sixty dollars.

Is Meta's free Instagram automation enough for a tattoo studio?

It can be, if one fixed answer covers most questions. Meta Business Suite's keyword automations are free, send templates you write or use Meta Business Agent, and are set up on desktop. They wait 15 minutes before sending unless you reply first.

Should an AI quote a tattoo price in a DM?

Only from numbers you give it. In BetterSocials you write your shop minimum, hourly rate or deposit as an AI rule, and the AI quotes those. For a custom piece, a rule can send people to your booking link, and anything your rules don't cover waits for you in Needs reply.

Can a DM tool tell clients which dates are open?

Through your booking link. BetterSocials answers from your AI rules, so a rule with your booking link sends people to the page where your booking tool shows open slots. Each openings question also gets a Lead tag and a push notification to your phone, so you see it mid-session.

What happens if I don't answer an Instagram DM within 24 hours?

Instagram only lets a business reply through a tool within 24 hours of the person's last message. After that, BetterSocials and most other tools can't send the DM. You can still answer in the Instagram app, and the clock restarts each time the person writes again.

Does the AI answer story replies about flash designs?

No. In BetterSocials, story replies land in the Inbox as DMs with a line such as "Replied to your story", so you can see and answer them. Story replies and voice notes get no AI reply, and every other DM can get an AI answer in your voice.

How much does BetterSocials cost for a tattoo studio?

Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts and one login. Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six accounts, and Team is $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, for twelve accounts and unlimited teammates. Every plan has a 7-day free trial, card required.
